• —Designed a REST API backed by a bounded in-memory store (100 msg/room, 1,000 private) — no database required, refactored down from MongoDB/Mongoose to simplify deployment.
• —Hardened against XSS via DOM-based input sanitization and added server-side room validation to block unauthorized joins and message spoofing.
